Valley Gutter Horizontal or sloping gutter, at the internal intersection between two roof slopes. Usually lead or tile lined.

Ventilation Circulation of air to prevent condensation or moisture build-up, which could cause Dry Rot or Warping. Moisture resulting from showers, hot baths, cooking etc is dispersed by the use of electric ventilation units and airbricks. (See also Condensation).

Verge The edge of a roof, in particular the part which is over a gable.

Verge Board Timbers which follow the lines of the apex on the gable-end of a roof. They cover and protect the ends of the roof timbers. Also known as Barge Boards or Gable Boards.
