Gable The triangle of brickwork that forms the roof, usually found on the end of a house.

Grommet A rubber or plastic ring, which lines a hole to protect electrical cable from damage.

Groove A long narrow channel cut into a material.

Ground Heave Swelling of clay sub-soil due to absorption of too much moisture - this can cause an upward movement in foundations.

Grounds Strips of wood fixed to a wall to provide nail-fixing points for skirting boards, door casings etc. (See also Pallets).
